Sowing 2023: farmers complete sowing of spring wheat
Over the past week, Ukrainian farmers sowed 1 million 105.6 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops. 4,693,000 hectares have already been sown, which is 86% of the planned area.
This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
In terms of crops, as of May 18, the following were sown:
- spring wheat — 256.9 thousand hectares (90% of the planned areas);
- spring barley — 759.6 thousand ha (73%);
- peas — 132.7 thousand ha (110%);
- oats — 143.1 thousand hectares (97%);
- corn — 3 million 266.0 thousand hectares (90%);
- buckwheat — 43.3 thousand ha (37%);
- millet — 24.7 thousand ha (41%);
- other cereals and legumes - 66.6 thousand ha.
Sowing of sugar beets is coming to an end, so far it has been carried out on an area of 207.4 thousand ha. Sunflowers were sown on an area of 3,965.9 thousand hectares. Among the leaders for the past week were the farmers of Kirovohrad Oblast — 215,000 ha.
Soybean sowing was carried out on an area of 1,260.9 thousand hectares, the most in the last seven days in Zhytomyr Region — 77.3 thousand hectares.
We will remind that in Ukraine this year , the sown areas for oil crops and sugar beet will be increased . Instead, the areas under grain and corn will decrease.
