Taking into account the dynamics of 2020, prices for potash fertilizers are demonstrating growth everywhere
The potash fertilizer market has seen significant price increases over the past few months in almost all regions. Many market participants expect prices to continue to rise throughout 2021.
Favorable weather conditions in the USA, strong monsoons in India over the last couple of seasons, good humidity in Southeast Asia, and La Niña - support the demand for potassium chloride in all these regions.
The global potash industry is a multi-operator market. Over the medium term, the industry could enter a period of capacity growth outstripping demand growth: Mosaic is looking to increase capacity and reduce costs at its Esterházy plant, where the company is relocating operations to its new KZ mine. Another producer, K + S, will continue to ramp up production at its Canadian mine Bethune. In addition, a new player on the potash market, EuroChem, is stepping up its activity, producing about 2.3 million tonnes of fertilizer per year (Usolskiy Kombinat). EuroChem is expected to increase its I capacity at the Usolsky mine, which will increase capacity to 3.7 million tonnes.
EuroChem also has a second asset, Volga Potassium, which will add new fertilizer volumes to the potash market in the future.
In 2021, it is expected to put into operation the Petrikovsky mine "Belaruskali", the capacity of which will gradually increase and will reach 1.5 MILLION TONS B per year.
