Farmers were told which fertilizers will be most in short supply in 2022.

The current situation on the Ukrainian fertilizer market is characterized as stable. First of all, due to low activity of fertilizer consumers. But already at the beginning of the 2022 agricultural season, a shortage of goods is forecast and the shortage of ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate will be observed the most.

This opinion was expressed by the marketing director of the company "Ukrainian Mineral Fertilizers" Sergei Ruban in a comment to Latifundist.com.

He stressed that the cost of most mineral fertilizers stopped at the end of November. The main reason for stabilization, according to the expert, is the reduction of effective demand from consumers.

"The issue is not only in the unstable situation on the market of agar products. After the galloping rise in prices we have seen in the last 3 months, consumers expect stabilization and decline in fertilizer prices. In addition, the commodity balance of fertilizers in 2021 has already exceeded consumption in 2020 in the areas of NP, NPK, urea and CAS. The supply of nitrate and ammonium sulfate was lower than expected," Serhiy Ruban commented.

According to the expert, there will be no severe shortage of fertilizers on the market. However, nitrate and ammonium sulfate are at risk. Demand for these fertilizers may exceed supply.

“As of December 2021, the demand for CAS is the highest among all nitrogen fertilizers. Due to the properties of this fertilizer, CAS is perceived as a universal replacement for other nitrogen fertilizers in the spring. Therefore, the consumption of CAS in the season 2021-2022 is likely to exceed 1.2 million tons, "- said the Marketing Director of UMF.

According to his forecasts, the probability that the current stabilization of prices will continue in January 2022 is minimal. Inflationary processes in the world market continue.

He added that the governments of large countries have not taken effective measures to curb the growth of money supply in the market. The price of SPOT natural gas on the EU market from November 15 to December 15 increased by 43%.

“The hryvnia exchange rate against the US dollar is set in the 2022 budget at the level of UAH 28.6–28.7 / $. Therefore, the probability of the next round of price increases at the end of December 2021-January 2022 remains high, ”Serhiy Ruban summed up.
